Novel Index & Statistical Modeling (Oct 2025 – Jan 2026)
Challenge: The NFIP needed statistical methods to better understand the drivers of floodplain development.
Analytical Approach: Served as lead statistician on a contract with Booz Allen Hamilton:
- Developed a novel index to quantify the pressure balance between floodplain and non-floodplain land use
- Created the experimental design and initial pilot study statistical model
- Engineered a Python-based ETL pipeline to consolidate 7,500+ Excel files of geospatial and explanatory variable data into a scalable relational database, architected with dimension and fact tables to support expansion
Insights & Impact: Delivered foundational statistical methods, a scalable ETL pipeline, and experimental design within a 4-month part-time contract, with methods adopted beyond the initial pilot and potential for broader expansion.
User Analytics Leadership & Product Strategy (2024 – 2025)
Challenge: The Census Bureau’s data accessibility issues were limiting public engagement. With fragmented analytics and no unified framework for measuring user behavior, product teams lacked the insights needed to prioritize improvements.
Analytical Approach: I led user analytics initiatives for Census.gov:
- Architected quarterly analytics framework synthesizing search data, engagement metrics, and customer feedback to inform cross-functional sprint planning
- Implemented technical audits using Bing Webmaster Tools and Python to diagnose critical site performance issues
- Engineered Python scripts to extract Census Business Builder user behavior patterns and identify optimization opportunities
Insights & Impact: Technical audits uncovered a critical indexing error affecting 215 pages. I diagnosed and resolved it, driving a 68.2% increase in new users within one month.
Census Business Builder analysis revealed where users struggled and what functionality they valued most. Translating these insights into development requirements, I identified $1.56M in potential annual savings through strategic software consolidation.
Quarterly executive presentations shifted how teams prioritized product strategy. Analytics training and frameworks I established enabled sustained optimization.
Workforce Analytics & Executive Alignment (2023)
Challenge: Stanley Consultants stored applicant and employee data in separate systems, preventing comprehensive workforce analysis. HR teams spent 40+ hours monthly on manual compliance reporting, and leadership lacked visibility into hiring pipeline effectiveness and retention trends.
Analytical Approach: I collaborated with the Systems Analyst and HR team to design a data integration solution:
- Shadowed HR manager to map workflows and analyzed both database structures to identify integration opportunities
- Identified unique applicant IDs as the bridge between disconnected datasets
- Designed custom field implementation enabling full-cycle integration from candidate to employee status
- Partnered with VP of Operations and Chief of HR to establish standardized retention and turnover methodologies
- Established access controls and security protocols for sensitive workforce data
Insights & Impact: The disconnected systems prevented understanding of conversion rates, time-to-hire, and retention patterns. My custom field solution created full lifecycle tracking without expensive ATS investments, reducing HR administrative time by 40 hours per month through streamlined affirmative action reporting.
The unified data revealed the root cause of a long-standing disagreement between the VP of Operations and Chief of HR on retention calculations. I established standardized reporting methodology that resolved the conflict and enabled the company’s first comprehensive workforce analytics. The data governance framework I implemented ensured compliance and long-term data integrity for strategic decision-making.
Enterprise Data Warehouse Analysis & Optimization (2022)
Challenge: Mosaic Co, a Fortune 500 fertilizer producer, needed to optimize its Azure data warehouse. Siloed departmental systems (operations, HR, safety, finance) created data duplication and prevented cross-system integration, increasing technical burden and limiting enterprise-wide insights.
Analytical Approach: As part of a 6-month consulting engagement with Bii Consulting, I conducted comprehensive data warehouse analysis:
- Performed extensive SQL querying across siloed systems to map data flows and document redundancies
- Identified cross-linking opportunities enabling data sharing across departments without duplication
- Inventoried PowerBI reporting library to eliminate redundant reports and streamline business intelligence
Insights & Optimization: Analysis revealed significant data duplication across departmental silos. I created Mosaic’s first Enterprise database dictionary, giving the data engineering team comprehensive visibility into their data ecosystem. This documentation, combined with testing across Azure and PowerBI environments, identified consolidation opportunities that informed the organization’s optimization roadmap.
eCommerce Analytics & Security Analytics (2018 – 2022)
Challenge: Healthy Hildegard scaled to 10,000 monthly visitors across two countries but faced critical revenue barriers: slow international site speeds, coordinated payment gateway attacks, and high cart abandonment rates.
Analytical Approach: I implemented comprehensive analytics across performance, security, and conversion optimization:
- Analyzed page load times and geographic patterns to identify international customer friction
- Monitored payment gateway activity to detect and prevent fraudulent attack patterns
- Conducted drip campaign A/B testing to optimize email timing, content, and cart recovery messaging
Insights & Optimization: Performance data revealed geographic distance caused load times that were driving international customers away. I implemented Cloudflare CDN and migrated to SiteGround hosting, dramatically improving conversion rates for international customers.
Security analytics detected coordinated bot attacks targeting the payment gateway. I configured automated IP blacklisting rules and optimized the Authorize.net API integration to prevent fraudulent transactions and protect customer data.
Marketing analytics informed email automation for cart recovery and order fulfillment, reducing manual processing time while recovering abandoned revenue. The combined improvements enabled sustained growth across both domestic and international markets.
B2B Marketing & A/B Testing (2015 – 2018)
Challenge: Lat-Lon needed to increase qualified leads for their IoT asset tracking devices in a competitive B2B market. With limited marketing budget, every ad dollar needed to demonstrate clear ROI.
Analytical Approach: I designed and implemented a systematic A/B testing framework for LinkedIn ads and website content:
- Tested ad copy (technical vs. business value messaging), visual elements, and call-to-action placement
- Analyzed audience segmentation by industry, company size, and job titles
- Evaluated platform performance and engagement patterns across channels
- Optimized website content and search strategy to improve discoverability
Insights & Optimization: Testing revealed that data-driven decision-making messaging significantly outperformed feature-focused content. LinkedIn ads and content pages were tested to inform which version led to the highest quality leads.
Web content analysis identified which case studies and keywords resonated with target audiences. I used these insights to optimize both ad strategy and website architecture, significantly improving ad click-through rates and search visibility. The combined improvements increased visitor engagement and delivered higher-quality leads to the sales team while reducing cost per acquisition.
